My name is Evelyn.
I met Devon and instantly fell for him.
Weeks later he fell for my best friend.
Never one to make waves, I watched as they started a life together. I stood by as their family grew, was the maid of honor at their wedding and the godmother to their children. All the while, I was longing for him, watching as he became the perfect husband and father. I was never jealous. I wasn’t even angry that my best friend had the only person I wanted. I had simply resigned myself to living without his love, but still being a part of his life.
Then, one terrible day, my best friend died.
She died and we all struggled to live life without her. Slowly, as the pain eased, our eyes opened and Devon finally saw me.
This is a story about second chances and second choices.
This is the story of how my life changed in the absence of Olivia.

In The Absence of Olivia, Evie was free. In The Absence of Olivia, Evie learned a lot. In The Absence of Olivia, she became herself in the most beautiful way. And I have to say that sometimes Olivia wasn't the best person and that was a little sad, so before you ask me about it, please read the book and read what I have to say.
This book was everything and more, and I LOVED the end. Maybe I will be one of those, who are part of that small population, who loved the end. Yes, it was a twist, but for me... Evie deserved it, she deserved that and more.
And if you're still wondering why I kinda hated Olivia, well, to be honest she was selfish. She knew it, she saw the love between Devon and Evie and she decided to ignore it. And that was what hurted me the most, because for ten years Evie suffered so much. For ten years Evie wasn't herself, and though her love was beautiful, it was wasted. The beautiful and sometimes strange friendship they had was clouded but the unspoken love.
What people will see is that this book is predictable, just reading the synopsis you can imagine a HEA, and you start to connect the points, and you think you have everything resolved. What people might forget, is what will make them same they feel this book empty at the end...
“You’re my very best friend, Evie. Promise me you’ll be happy.”...
Evie deserved to be happy and to me.. It wasn't with him. Though I could see he loved her, it wasn't true love, he was just used to love her too and that was what broke me the most.
You know in life you have your first love and your true love. Evie was lucky to have them, though her first love didn't reciprocated because the fate, destiny, God's plans... whatever you call them. She was lucky to have her true love by her side.
